Lucky Day For Man With Metal Detector
The largest hoard of priceless Anglo-Saxon gold ever found

An unemployed man has unearthed the largest hoard of Anglo-Saxon gold ever found. Experts say the collection of 1,500 gold and silver pieces, which may date to the 7th Century, is unparalleled in size and worth at least "a seven figure sum" and could be priceless.

Many are decorated with precious stones. The quality of the craftsmanship displayed on many items is supreme, indicating possible royal ownership.
Terry Herbert from Burntwood, Staffordshire, stumbled on the hoard in a private field with his trusty 14-year-old metal detector.
